Blog assignment #22- Thanksgiving

Over the long weekend I didnt do much that is very interesting, I mostly worked served food and drinks at dinner parties and listened and watched some of the rich crowd in newport blow there money. Which wasnt all that bad as long as there stuffing tips in my pocket Ill keep bringing there food and drinks happily. Its kind of a trip to do because I plan on having that kind of money and getting to see people in the position I plan on putting myself in is just weird. But other than work i just hung out with some friends and some some relatives that I dont get to see all that often. And I also went to disneyland with my parents and little sister which was fun. Seeing Disney Land was fun I havent been there since i was a kid so it was a trip to ride all the rides and stuff i remember as a kid.

1. Skydive
I would want to skydive because it sounds like an amazing experience that I want to have.

This is just another activity I would like too do because it sounds fun.

Ive caught pretty big Mahi and Ono but not a marlin or a big tuna.

Tobacco has always been a huge part of america, it used to be one of the number one cash crops and its always had its place as a cure for certain ailments or just a way to relax and unwind. Cigarettes believe it or not used to be doctor recommended, And were accepted as a perfectly fine and healthy way to enjoy your tobacco. And of course we all know now that they are a major health concern, But still tobacco seems to be inbeded in our culture. And in my opinion thats just fine if someone wants to smoke thats there choice and yea I think it should be kept away from a lot of public areas. But its a freedom I think we deserve and we as individuals will deal with the consequences of our actions. I am someone who thinks people should be able to do whatever they want within reason and I think cigarettes fall in that category. If someone wants to smoke themselves into a grave at 40 thats fine with me just don't ask me to pay for your smokes or anything.

Blog assignment #18- pop culture

Technology is getting more advanced by the day, every month or two your hearing of new things coming out like new phones and tablets. But what I am going to write about is video games, Ive been playing video games since I was probably 5 or 6. And thats only a couple years after the industry stated to really emerge, Ive seen them go from simple games with low quality graphics to internet based incredibly impressive in the improvement of graphics and how you play. But theres been a catch as these video games became more sophisticated there becoming increasingly expensive. And not only do they want yo to pay for the console and the games but now they try to get you on the internet membership fee which is understandable but its getting ridiculous, simple things you used to unlock by playing the game they make it so you have to pay for it. Or they have new add ons to the game that are 20 dollars and its just ridiculous even things that come with the original game they will take away because you havent bought the extras. You have to see it to yourself to understand but they are making me feel like there just out to squeeze every dime from you.

I am a horrible typist Im very slow and inaccurate. Though i have taken a computer literacy class in middle school didnt help much though.

This website seems to be a great fit for someone who wants to improve your typing speed and accuracy. I chose this website because it has many different types of tests to test your ability in different areas, as well as to make sure its not just memorization. I also chose this website because it is very easy to keep track of your progress and see how your improving. And finally this website has a tutor not just tests so you can learn as well as practice on your own.

blog assignment #17- Halloween

My favorite part about halloween was in Lahaina we would shut down front st. and the whole town was like a mini less crazy mardi gras. It used to be a lot of fun the streets would fill with people and the store owners and lease holders of the buildings along front street would throw beads and candy. And they would set up haunted houses and lots of other things the stores would set up to promote the store. One of the best parts is everyone on the island would come down so its one big party that did get a little out of control. But the year after I left the island the old rich people who didn't like the noise or the people walking past there homes decided to petition the county and get the street to where it has to stay open and people cant gather like they did. I think they ruined halloween for everyone just because they don't like a little noise one night out of the year. We retain a few great traditions that made Maui the great tight knit community I love and we need to hold on to those few traditions and not let a few of the big home owners that barley live in that house a month out of the year, Ruin the fun for everyone. Ive already seen the big rich people who have no connection or love for the place dictate what happens in the community because there the ones with money and they are ruining it. So dont let this happen to halloween like it did too many other great island traditions.

blog assignment #15- integrity

I like to believe I do have a lot of integrity because I know I have faced temptation to steal and lie and cheat and turned down a lot of opportunities to do a lot of those things. Im not saying Ive never done any of those things but who hasn't those mistakes are what makes us human. What I am saying is that you should avoid some of the more devious or mean or hurtful acts that take away from your integrity. Because integrity to me at least is something you should value in a person because it kinda shows you who they are on the inside and where they take their moral stance. And most people dont have a certain set of moral guidelines that they follow to the number they just take life as it goes and do what they think is right at the moment based on the present situation and there past experiences.  And I am the same I dont have a set of rules I just try my best and do what feels right.

Blog assignment #14- college bound

1. I would like a full assortment of extra curricular activities jobs and good grades and test scores to show all of my skills and attributes.
2. Some headlines that would be a negative online find would be a criminal history or embarassing moment posted on the internet.
3.  I do not think someone should be judged by whats on the internet about them, the internets full of lies and bad opinions.
4. Your digital footprint is very important and can have a profound effect on your future wether negative or positive.
5. I dont think that is a good way to decide those kind of things because I know people very well who based on their face book you would think they were  bad kids when there really college material.
6. Some ways teens share info online is through social networking sites or through blogs and phones.
7. I think that most teens do post a little more than they should online like things they did that were bad or illegal or give ready access to all their personal info.
8.  I do not have a face book or twitter so there is not a whole lot of info or pictures or videos of me online so its safe to say theres not too much info on me out there.
9. I do care about my digital footprint because it could drastically effect my future for good or bad but either way its something you should be wary of.
10.  There are some pictures I didnt want up but it wasnt too big of a deal and there pretty much gone now nothing that could ruin my future.

Blog Assignment #13- Online scams and schemes

I personally dont have a lot of experience with online schemes and scams but I have seen how people get involved in them. I would say I watch out for scams and schemes that I come across on the internet or in emails but its not very hard and dosent take much effort. Being safe on the internet is usually pretty simple just stick to sites you trust or that arent showing any signs of being fraudulent or misguiding. And dont be fooled by the stupid offers and propositions put on by hackers and schemers offering you silly apps or big rewards its all to get something as simple as your email or phone number any bit of info they can. And be careful of websites that you are purchasing stuff from and paying by entering credit card info you really have no idea who is getting ahold of that info and what their intentions are for it. Another why people try to get your info is getting you to download hidden spyware they can use to see what your entering into your computer such as credit card numbers and passwords. so be weary of computer schemes and just treat all websites and emails or pop ups like their out to trick you until you learn otherwise and youll be fine.

1. Never meet up with someone you dont know personally.
2. Don't believe everything people say online.
3. Be aware of what this persons intentions could be
4. Dont give out personal info.
5. Dont post anything possibly incriminating online

1. I met Nick at summer camp and talk to him every other day.
2.  Yes about 5 or 6 years
3. yes he asked me not to tell anyone or we could both experience some negative impacts.
4. A little bit when he asks for pictures or weird questions.
5. It does seem like Sheyna is being taken advantage of so nick can see revealing pictures of her and eventually something more.
6. It might be a sensitive issue for Sheyna because she feels uncomfortable about it and might like nick and not want to get him in trouble.
7. I think Sheyna should end the relationship there is just to big of an age gap and she dosent know what shes doing.

Blog assignment #11

I am going to write my blog about earning credits, Everyone at back bay high school is there for one reason credits. Usually the people here including myself have had a chance to get all their high school credits the normal way. But it doesn't always go that smoothly, granted that it is probably easier to just get through normal high school without messing up your credits. So going through the first time clean is probably the best option.

But its not always easy especially when your young and don't understand the full impact of your actions. and next thing you know your a senior with 15 out of 26 credits, and your rushing to an alternative school to try to scramble together some credits and get your diploma on time. So when all your friends are talking about graduating and college you don't have to say you gotta stay back an extra year cause your missing some math credits. Or even worse you get lazy and say forget the diploma all together. 

So why make things hard on yourself by falling behind in credits just do what you need to do the first time and you wont have to go through the struggle to get your diploma. Sure its easy to miss out on credits freshmen and sophomore year but when everyones future starts but yours cause you decided to ditch some extra classes its gonna suck and you have no one to blame and no one can fix it for you.

assignment #8- stranded

If I were stranded on a tropical island in the middle of the sea and could only have three things i would probably bring. number one a decent sized knife to hunt and build things. Number two would be a way to make fire that is durable and reliable so that means not a lighter or matches a magnesuim strip or something of that nature. And number three would be a satelite cellphone to call for help ,and my self off that island

assignment #7- Role models

I dont really think theres that many people I look up to as a role model. I don't even really like the idea of modeling yourself after someone else. I dont think theres any thing wrong with it its just not my style. But if I had to pick someone I guess I would pick my parents there successful, smart, they have a good life and they have good guidelines on life.

I dont really follow politics but I do know a little bit about them and get updated on important events in them. And i would say that I am an independent that leans in favor of the right. my Dad is an independent and my mom a republican. I will most likely vote when eligible in the next election. I would say the economy is the most important political issue to me. And if i could choose the next president I would choose myself because I would love the money and I would probably do a better job than the idiot in office now.

assignment #4- Dream school

If I could go to any school in the world and money and admissions was not a barrier I would probably have to pick the state college in portland. I would pick that college because I really liked portland Ive only been there once to see it but I liked it a lot it was better than a lot of the places Ive seen. And I base that decision primarily on the area the colleges is in because i don't know a lot about the college itself. I would pick Portland because of the cities vibe its pretty laid back and it seems to have a lot going on. And it is a very pretty town. But the cold and rain is a problem I hate cold and rain so I might like the university of Hawaii better.

assignment #3 - Computer class

               There are several things I like about this class the most prevalent of them being that we get an assignment and then get the class to ourselves to delegate time to that and anything else we might need to do before the bell rings. Another aspect of this class I like is that we are doing stuff that might be necessary as a skill in the future blogs, blogging and social networking on the internet is a huge part of society today and a little info on the subject is necessary in my opinion.
              Some aspects about this class I dont like would be that we work on the computers all class period. I know that this is comp. lit. but I am really not a big fan of using computers for fun or school.  I guess thats a little bit of a personal thing but Im not good with computers and I dont like to use them they are nothing but a tool to me. Another aspect of this class that I don't like is the timing of it I seem to always be at the peak of my tiredness in this class and it really affects my ability to get anything done.
          Some things I would do to improve this class would be to add more collaboration between students and more of a focus on how to properly utilize the computers in front of us. More for business applications and tools on the computer we will probably have to use at work in the future.

assignment #2- Favorite?

My favorite thing to do is go spearfishing, Theres nothing I love more than to have an 8 hour day on the water diving around different spots And filling our boat with all types of fish. Such as Hogfish, groupers,Snappers, Opelu, Tako and lots of others. The best part about spearfishing is seeing those huge prize fish 50 ft. down and wanting them so bad that you get what air you can and head down deeper than you thought you could go for that one quick shot. And the worst part about it si that same situation but you miss and it jets away never to be seen again.

assignment #1- Summer vacation

Last summer vacation I had was great I was back in Hawaii with all my friends making a good amount of money at the company I worked for called Snorkel Bobs. I was going surfing and spearfishing and cliff diving everyday and getting better and better at them. It was a lot of fun and i enjoyed every day of it.
Now that I start to think back to it that was a really good summer and its my last summer I get to spend at home on Maui. I dont know what people here in California do because the ocean here is cold dirty and has little oppurtunity for fishing diving and spearfishing.  So I am not sure why people act like they can be an avid fisherman and ocean loving person While living in southern california.

My plans for next summer are hopefully to go back to Hawaii or at least go somewhere where I can do some actual fishing and not sit on a boat in freezing weather considering myself lucky to catch a shitty little Benita or Sculpin.
